This is my favourite recipe, when I need a light meal, perfect for Lunch Or Dinner.
This recipe is very versatile, and may be used as a filling in Pita Breads Or topped into a Baguette or a Prego Roll. It can also be prepared with Chicken Fillets.
The original idea for this recipe comes from my Better-Half, Imran, when a few years back, he played Masterchef, in my kitchen one evening, vowing to wow me with his hidden cooking talents😍.
And wow me, he did👌.
So why not give this recipe a try out the next time you want to “Wow” the taste buds off your family and friends.
Happy Cooking Friends

Prego Steak (A Foodeva Marsay Recipe)
500g Topside Steak ( or any other cuts), cut into 1 inch thick strips.
2 teaspoon Minced/Crushed Garlic
1 teaspoon Green Chillie paste (or 1 whole chillie chopped) – optional.
1 Tablespoon Plain Yoghurt
1 Teaspoon Paprika Spice (Robertsons variety)
1 teaspoon Lemon Pepper Spice (Robertsons variety)
1/4 teaspoon Tumeric Powder
1/2 teaspoon Cumin Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tablespoon Sweet Chillie Sauce (Wellingtons variety)
1 Tablespoon Mayonnaise
1 Tablespoon Peri-Peri Sauce (I used the Steers Variety)
3 Tablespoon Tomato Sauce
4 Tablespoon Prego Sauce ( I used the Steers Variety)
~ Marinate the steaks with all the ingredients, except for the Garlic and Chillie paste.
~Heat 2 Tablespoon Olive Oil in a pot and quickly flash fry the garlic and green chillies, taking care not to burn the garlic.
~Follow immediately by adding the marinated steak.
~Stir the steak through well in the garlic and chillies, cover with a lid and lower heat of stove to medium/low.
~allow to cook for 20-25 minutes or until steak is tender, without adding any additonal liquid.
~In the meantime prepare the stir fry as below.
1 Onion sliced in rings
1 Cup Sliced Peppers, a combination of Red, Yellow and Green peppers, but this can be also done in which ever colour pepper you have available👍
~heat 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil and 1 Tablespoon Butter
~Add 1 teaspoon minced/chopped Garlic.
~Follow with the onions, when slightly softened, add in the peppers and stir fry for a minute more.
Season slightly with salt and pepper.
~ When steak is tender, top it with the stir fried onions and peppers.
~stir through lightly and leave allow the sauces to thicken.
~This is now ready to serve with pita bread, prego rolls(I serve these together with a Garlic/Mayo sauce and crisp salad leaves), or on Savoury Rice.
☆you may omit the chillie or use less chillie sauces, especially if you have little kids👍.
ENJOY!!! (💕FOODEVA MARSAY💕)
