Been a while hey, I know you missed me, as much as I have missed you all, my dearest readers. Life happens, and sometimes, we tend to slowly work through each new situation life throws at us. With trying to work through my emotional state of mind, from the passing of my father, to the sudden passing of my only sister in law, top that with all the anxiety and fears amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, I’m sure many of you too have had such a rollercoaster of emotions that stops you in your tracks.
Thank Goodness for Chocolate, or should I say WORLD CHOCOLATE DAY, which was celebrated yesterday the 7th July, and it is on that sweet note, I slowly edge back into my blogosphere. They say… CHOCOLATE is a Delicious Cure for a Bad Day, Well it seems cure enough for all of 2020 thus far.
So armed with this heartwarming cup of Deluxe Orange Chilli Hot Chocolate, I want to take your tastebuds on a new level of excitement. It’s Winter season now in South Africa, and Citrus fruit is in abundance. And no better time, than right now to try to make the most of these golden beauties. Oranges and Red Chilli have a multitude of health benefits, and vitamin C is one such benefit. Don’t be alarmed by the addition of red chilli to this hot chocolate, try it and let it take your hot chocolate enjoyment to new a dimension.

Deluxe Orange Chilli Hot Chocolate
Rich and Luxurious, delicately flavoured with Orange and ending with a lingering bite of red chilli. This silky deluxe hot chocolate will soothe your body and soul this winter.

You will Need:
1 Cup Fresh Milk
1/2 – 3/4 Cup Fresh Cream
60-80 grams Dark CHOCOLATE
(I used 70 percent Lindt dark chocolate)
Sweeten to taste (condensed milk/sugar/sweetner)
2 pieces of dried orange peel
1 teaspoon Freshly chopped Red Chilli
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
~ Heat the milk and fresh cream.
~ Sweeten To taste
~ When milk mixture is hot, add in the chopped chocolate, together with the dried orange peel and chopped red chillies
~ Allow the chocolate to melt and flavourings to gently infuse into the milk
~ Whisk this quickly, and bring to a gentle boil, until chocolate is dissolved and hot chocolate is smooth and silky.
~ Remove from heat, and allow to rest for a few minutes, before straining into cups.

* You can use brands of milk and any fat level.
* For a less rich version, only use milk.
* Regular Milk CHOCOLATE may also be used, but take care not to sweeten until done, as milk chocolate is generally sweet.
* No fresh chillies available?, then substitute it with 1/2 teaspoon crushed dry chilli flakes..
* You may opt to leave out the orange flavouring, and make this a chilli chocolate on it’s own.
* Always strain this hot chocolate before enjoying.
A FOODEVA MARSAY TIP…when next you are enjoying a fresh orange, peel the skin and let it air dry on the counter top for a few days, this will produce some great dried orange peel, that you can use to infuse flavour into desserts.
