Easy ‘Funfair Style’ Donuts

These Easy ‘funfair style’ donuts, are a perfect little treat for anytime of the day.  Dainty and Delicious, and oh so easy to prepare, you will be whipping these up in no time.

Nothing smells better than a home with delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen. The very aroma of these frying donuts, will take you down memory lane to when your favourite funfair came to town.

Simple and easy to follow, I would even bet your little chef at home could whip up a batch of these, but with adult supervision, of course, at the stove top??.  Now with just the 2 of us here at home, I have finally worked out a batch ‘small’ enough to get us through a couple of days (if it lasts that long :-P).

This morning had me whipping up a batch of these, and if you follow me on Snapchat/Facebook, you would know…I blamed these cravings on the Icy Weather Conditions we are experiencing in South Africa.  Do take a look at the little video I made up, of the steps to follow, and you too can be enjoying a warm batch of these Donuts, in less than 30 minutes!

While I warm away my fingers, curled about my Hot cuppa, and a Donut;-) , I leave you to go ahead and give this sweet treat a go.  Looking forward to your feedbacks.

Happy Donut Making Lovelies

HOW TO MAKE:

Heat about 1 Cup of Vegetable Oil in a small deep pot, while you get started with the donut batter.

~ Whisk Together –

1 Egg

1/2 Cup Plain Yoghurt

1/3 Cup Castor Sugar

1 teaspoon Vanilla essence

1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder

NOW ADD-

1 Cup Flour

2 teaspoon Baking Powder

~ Add these and whisk in well until combined.

~ Lastly add in 1 Tablespoon Melted Butter, and whisk this into the donut batter.

~ Drop pinched amounts of batter into the hot oil, and fry turning a few times, until golden brown in colour.

~ Take care that the oil is not too hot while frying, as the insides of the donut may not cook through.

~ Drain off any excess oil by placing the fried donuts onto kitchen paper towels.

~ Allow all the donuts to cool a little, then roll them into Cinnamon Sugar, Or Dip/Drizzle with melted chocolate or chocolate sauce.

CINNAMON SUGAR

  • mix together 1/2 Cup Castor Sugar and 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder.

ENJOY!!! (@foodeva_marsay)

Notes by Foodeva Marsay

  • When enjoyed immediately, These Donuts have a Crunchy Exterior and a soft, almost pillowy, interior. They do however soften up after a while, but do not lose their deliciousness??.
  • The donut batter is a sticky, wet batter.
  • Use a teaspoon, to drop the batter into the oil, if you are comfortable with it.  I was a lot more comfortable scooping the batter with my finger tips, as in the video, and pinching them into the hot oil.
  • I Used an All-Purpose Flour, But you could also use Self Rising Flour if you prefer.
