A GREAT DOMESTIC HELPER.
Today, like 3 months back, I am ever so grateful to have this Amazing woman help me around my home weekly. Â The 1st week, 3 months back, she had done THIS and TODAY AS WELL. What am I speaking of??? Well, saving me money of course??
I was amazed at her genius idea, and planned to click a few pics the next time she did this…BUT yet again she beat me to it. She made my dishwashing liquid miraculously double it’s volume with a simple trick she learnt from her church group on whatsapp. The 1st time I was truly running low on my dishwashing liquid, but this time round, she went about doing the same, with my brand new bottle of detergent.
Though I didn’t get the pics I wanted today, this amazing woman deserves the recognition for making me smile. So here is how Glory reckons you too can save some money.
How to Double Your SUNLIGHT Dishwashing DETERGENT by Glory Mathye

1 × 750ml SUNLIGHT Dishwashing DETERGENT
1 × 1.5 Litre EMPTY Sunlight dishwashing detergent Bottle
2 teaspoons fine salt
Water
~ Simply empty the 750ml liquid detergent into the empty bottle
~ Add the salt to this
~ And top with regular tap water, until double the volume.
~ Mix through the salt and added water by gently tossing the larger bottle from side to side.
~ Allow the detergent to react with the salt and in a few hours your newly doubled in volume size detergent will be as thick as it was initially.
NOTE BY FOODEVA MARSAY
* you can do this trick with whatever amount you have left in your current SUNLIGHT Dishwashing DETERGENT bottle, that is simply add the 2 teaspoon salt, BUT TAKE CARE TO TOP WITH THE EXACT AMOUNT OF WATER AS IS YOUR DETERGENT. This way, your detergent will regain it’s viscosity like it originally had been.
* WHETHER this trick works on all brands, or other soapy products, just as well, I have yet to detemine. BUT I do know that salt plays a huge role in affecting soapy liquid viscosity. #saltcurve #chemistry .

The salt reacts with one of the surfactants in there ( usually sodium laurel ether sulphate …SLES for short) its a foaming and detergent agent that looks a bit like vicks vaporub…once its mixed with all the other products the dish is thickish …what you then do is add small amounts of salt solution and watch as the dish thickens to whst you need….always checking ph which should be around 8 to 9 …alkaline cleans better than acid ….

Woow…. All of the talk of salt and viscosity took me back to my chemistry classes of decades ago. Thinking of the chemical reaction that must have taken place here. hmmnh ***scientist cap on***.
