Count On It This Ramadaan

RAMADAAN…We had eagerly awaited this Holy Month in the Islamic Calendar, and now that it’s here, it seems to be already going by a little too quickly.  I for one, can’t seem to find enough hours in day to do all that I would like to. But Alhamdulillah, even with all this said, and the lack of sleep at times, the One constant, Year in and Year out, is Counting on Ramadaan to bring NEW HOPE, and REVITALISATION to any Muslim.

New Hope and Revitalisation to our Bodies, Mind and Soul. When we do take time to sit down and realise all the Blessings that this great month brings, the amount of fingers on our hands would be lacking.  So I had seen a pic floating about the social media sites, and the words on it had a powerful meaning to it and went something like this… “Ramadaan is not about Losing Calories/Weight, But Losing our Sins”. We tend to focus on material things in life, like trying every little diet to lose that stubborn weight, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE WEIGHT OUR SINS WE CARRY?  Have we for  moment stopped to wonder, how will we face our Creator, with a weight so heavy?  Will our Bad Deeds outweigh our Good Deeds?

If there is any a good time to bring about a change to our lives and self, Ramadaan is most definitely the time to give that Positive change a head start. I remember clearly how last Ramadaan, I had been so heartbroken and devastated at the loss of my Mummy, just a little before Ramadaan, But it is through constant Ibadaat(praying), and the love and kind support from family and friends that helped ease my loss.  I still do Miss my Mummy tons, and there are moments when I would just suddenly breakdown and cry out, because something reminded me of her.  But it is with a Grateful heart, that I learned to find Happiness again.  When we pay too much attention to a negative moment in Life, it tends to sap out our energy, we look at every other thing thrown into our lives through negative eyes.  Let us try to take from this Ramadaan, all those positive qualities that so easily find us.  Apart from the Fard duties to be performed all year round, Here are 3 very little changes we can work on to help bring about a change in our life. * These are Notes 1st and Foremost to Myself, before I impose my thoughts upon anyone else*

Are you reading those extra Salaah, Like Tahajjud??, if you are now, What stops you from doing so after Ramadaan, It takes just a few moments to CONNECT so DIRECTLY with our RABB, why would you want to miss it… I know This Salaah, together with all my other Fard Salaah, has helped me develop a positive outlook on life..

Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “Our Lord Descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: `Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?”[ Bukhari and Muslim.]

   AND

Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, “The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer.”[Muslim]

And another thing we should all strive to achieve more often, outside of Ramadaan, is reading the Words of Allah (The Quran) a lot more often, for me this too has helped take my mind off my lose and despair, and In Sha Allah, brings me closer to me Creator.

The simplest of Ways to Make this Ramadaan Count, is increasing the amount of Zikr. There is Blessings to be found in every little Praise we bestow upon our Rabb and His Beloved Prophet, Muhammed( Peace Be Upon Him).  I am also very grateful for the lovely little sisterhood of ladies we have, that help keep me grounded, and I am sure the others feel the same way.  What initially started off as a zikr for sickly family members, has now developed into a daily combined attempt, by us all, to keep out tongues/lips moistened with the remembrance of our Creator (ZIKR).

And it is with these said, I share you with you these 2 wonderful little Google Apps below, They are Tasbeeh Counters,  that I have discovered on this journey thus far. I do Hope I have managed to inspire some tiny bit in you, that can help you make the most of these Blessed days. MAKE IT COUNT THIS RAMADAAN.

SIMPLE COUNTER

This one is a very simple and regular, click counter, with a large face with + and – to add or decrease counts.  there is a setting that allows you to add different counter names, so this is just perfect even for non islamic stuff you may need for counting.  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.tsukanov.counter

AND…

TASBEEH COUNTER: ZIKR, TASBIH

This has become a favourite of mine.  I like how it already has a few added Zikr Phrases added to the list, and also has an option to Add more Zikr of your own.  It keeps track of each of the Zikr you have been reading, and can be easily accessed via a History Setting on the App.  I love how I am able to change the Colour interface of the App, I love Pink so that is what my one look like, and it has settings that allow for sound at each 33 + 66+ 99 zikr reads, and another at each 100 read.
