I will share with you a link further down on how you too can slot in your advertisement on my Blog.
Small Business/Home Industry is something I hold dear to my heart. With the way our South African economy is these days, Many a home can be found to have both spouses trying to earn a decent income, on which to run their home and survive. Most often, it could be an almost ‘Hand to Mouth’ kind of play, with the exuberant increase in basic needs. Hence we find lots more South Africans opting to supplement their basic incomes, and in some cases, when NO JOBS seem to be available, by doing Something Beneficial from the comfort of their own homes. This has allowed for the increase in Small Business/ Home Industry Initiatives, that proves WE CAN ALL DO SOMETHING…TO BETTER OUR LIVES.
Now to kick off this ANNOUNCEMENT, I am proud to feature Fazila’s Online Shop. Fazila’s Online Shop is a Small Business Initiative, that is owned by and managed by Fazila S. Mall.
Fazila is a wonderful, and brave woman and it is such inspirational Women that tug at my heartstrings. Read on my interview, to find out a little bit more about Fazila and her small business venture, And how YOU can make a difference too, by helping and supporting such ventures.
Foodeva Marsay : Fazila SHUKRAN for taking time to answer a few of my questions. Tell me, and my readers, a Little About Fazila’s Online Shop?
FAZILA: Shukran and thank you so much Marriam for this great opportunity. I created the Facebook group to reach the public out there and provide them access to bargain, buy good quality products from the comfort of their homes or jobs, without having to go into Malls and flea-markets and ending up spending a fortune on something they could of gotten much cheaper. I cover a broad spectrum of products and I try and source the best prices and merchandise out there. I have a few major brand suppliers but 70% of my suppliers are ladies earning from home and I try and support them where I can to provide an income to them and myself in the process. My main target group is middle income families, single mothers and service providers Such as caterers, spaza shop owners etc.
Foodeva Marsay : What Ignited the Spark in you to you get started with this Business?
FAZILA : I owned a carwash and from there I started selling savouries purchased from my nephews shop in Laudium, great quality and yummy by the way, and as I live in an urban community in Pretoria East, I felt if the people don’t get time to go into a different community or are aware of the bargains out there, then I would bring it to them. I gave up the carwash and started selling odds and ends from home and unfortunately we had illness in the family so I could not start working full-time as I was in and out of hospitals and labs for 6 months. Alhamdulillah, now that everything is over and we have our health back, my business has boomed and I enjoy working from home and being there for my children 24/7.
Foodeva Marsay : How has technology, such as computers and the internet, impacted on how you conduct business?
FAZILA : I rely on the internet 100% , most especially Facebook and WhatsApp, as my main advertising channels. In today’s time everything is done via computers or smartphones, which makes running a home business so convenient. I run my business totally on internet banking and relying on courier services to provide a smooth, comfortable business and shopping experience. I currently have 3 Facebook Pages and 6 WhatsApp groups running 12 hours a day. And believe it or not I do all my work on a little Huawei phone.
Foodeva Marsay: What are the biggest issues for running this business?
FAZILA : Advertising is very frustrating, especially if placing ads on over 30 Facebook groups where someone advertises every 5 minutes. People don’t have the time to come home at night after a long day and going through 100 ads before they notice yours. I now rely on sharing and tagging on friends pages to get more exposure. Sometimes there are also delays in receiving stock and deliveries, but fortunately we all live in the same country and know that events like strikes, natural disasters, and accidents are inevitable and we have adjusted to circumstances.
Foodeva Marsay : Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years maybe?
FAZILA: My aim is to give back to the community by means of charity, creating a platform for ladies to start earning extra income in their communities or workplace, and being comfortable knowing I can provide for my children as an independent entrepreneur and single income earner.
MashaAllah Fazila, May your small business grow from strength to strength, AMEEN!
