Title: The Cursed Touch
Author: Raashida Khan
(kindle version read)
Foodeva Marsay Rating:
🌟🌟🌟🌟 (4 out of 5 Stars) Â
The Cursed Touch, is a wonderfully gripping tale, centered around protagonist Sondra Carrim-Edwards. For Sondra her career takes priority above all else, including her family.
The Cursed Touch is beautifully and thoughtfully penned, that reaches across religion and race, and is brought together with much finesse. After a dreadful tradegy that occurs, Sondra is forced to take a Step back and Analyse her life, to confront her past and make positive changes to help her move ahead in life.
.
The storyline revolves around the death of a young Intern John, who works with Sondra, and the consequences of their ill-considered affair. John’s death brings to the fore real life issues such as anger, confusion, heartbreak and pain related to death.
.
My thoughts:
This is the 3rd novel by South African author, Raashida Khan, that I have read in a short space of time. And like the other 2 novels, this too had all of her characteristic writing techniques.
To say the least… I LOVED IT!!!  Raashida has fast become one of my favourite South African authors.
The Cursed Touch , is written with amazing passion and thoughtfulness, that you feel drawn into this story. You feel emotions for Hannah, John’s grieving mother, and all the history and people from Sondra’s past, as she works at bringing peace to her life.
Moments of heartbreak, of family separation, of friendship and love, these are just some of the things that you can look forward to enjoying when reading this Novel. Being a Muslim author, Raashida, doesn’t overpower this story with all things Islamic. She carefully, and tactfully, tackles many social issues that is evident in South African society, and the World Over.
A Definite Recommended Read from me.
Inspirational Quote from the Book, Â I loved this one:
“‘Hate is a draining emotion. It takes everything out of you and leaves a shell of a person behind. It’s pointless and futile.’” (from The Cursed Touch by Raashida Khan)
